Is it Strix varia? We don't have that in Europe but Strix uralensis is a very similar species. I have never seen one in the nature, how cool that you were able to take a photograph of your Strix! They are huge and so beautiful.

I always feel very lucky when I see an owl. I once saved a barred owl, touched it and everything.
